These collages reconfigure images of the North and South poles, both past and present, using an underlying fractal geometry to shift scales, juxtapose history with contemporary issues and interrupt narratives with color gaps. Ideas of conquest, scouring the ends of the earth for resources, and the question of basic needs for humanity are at the fore of these polar works. Their making involves an activity of cutting together/apart images and ideas in the entanglement of matter and meaning—reality is not independent of our explorations of it. What historical decisions have been made leading us to our present environmental collapse? Who is missing, displaced or replaced? What are the material consequences of the intra-action of human and non human relationships?
